I need to thank the bloggers who have featured some of my posts on their linky parties:

Bella Rosa Antiques For my post on Dreaming of The 1920's Thank you, Jillian!
The Dedicated House "Anything Blue Friday" for my post on Antique Silver and Flow Blue Dishes. Thank you, Kathryn!
Thank you so very much. It is a real honor to be featured, and especially since I am new to the game. I'm still learning about blogging etiquette, and I should have thanked them earlier. On to my post for this week:
Here are some BLUE flowers from my garden. This image of the delphinium was shot last year, and they're a big favorite with us. The spikes grow to be over 5 feet high, and they make a HUGE statement! Lots of staking during their bloom time, but it's so worth it. I'll have to remember to try and get a fuller shot of the plants this year to show you just how big they are.

These next blue flowers, of course, are forget-me-nots. Another shot from last year, although it won't be long and these will be making an appearance. Always earlier than I think they will.
These are so pretty, and grow all over the place! |
I try to plant as many flowers as I can fit into each space, because I also love to have bouquets throughout the summer to enjoy.
Hollyhocks, lavender, Queen Anne's Lace and a kind of Buddleja |
Roses in Blue Bell jars |
They work so beautifully with little bouquets of flowers. These next images were all taken at the end of summer. Still an abundance of Cone flowers, black-eyed Susans, Daisies. . .etc.
I know a lot of people look on these as weeds, but I've always love the delicate look of Queen Anne's Lace:
Even "weed" flowers are beautiful in a bouquet |
I wait all Summer for the Dahlias to bloom that were planted in May. When they finally make an appearance, I have bouquets in abundance, and share them with my neighbors and friends:

Did you notice my beach glass in the lower left hand corner of this photo? If you'd like to know more about that collection, it is in my previous post.
Thank you so much for stopping by!

Your snaps of the flowers are so pretty and I'm sure you're waiting for them to bloom again! It's still so dead over here. I'm holding my breath for spring. Thank you for popping in to see me.

So pretty and, yes, the blue jars really make the flowers pop...or do the flowers make the blue jars really pop...??? hahhaa...whichever, they are all beautiful...Happy Pinks.

Your flowers are gorgeous - I wish I had space for a large flower garden. I garden only on our deck because we have several herds of friendly neighborhood deer that love to help prune our yard of any flowers that escape the deck. I've given up trying to outwit them - people say there are things deer won't eat - but I find that they will eat anything - anytime - and if that isn't enough - they'll come back for more when no one is looking - so I garden on the deck and look out through my pretty flowers to the deer passing through our yard.
ReplyDeleteYou deserve being featured with all this beauty. I have been once or twice on other blogs. You are right, it is an honor for me.
ReplyDeleteCynthia, Your post is simply beautiful in every way. All the beautiful flowers show how much work you and Carl put into your gardens. I belong to a garden club and I so appreciate the hard work but the results are worth all the effort you have lovingly done.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining Backyard Neighbor for Blue Monday.
Hugs,
Jeanne

Beautiful flowers! I love the blue ones, maybe because they're so rare. And the roses in that blue Ball jar -- exquisite! I never thought to leave the rings on when displaying bouquets, what a good idea. It will be so lovely to greet our flowers again!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter Cynthia!
What beautiful photography! They are all lovely, but I especially like the Queen Anne's Lace. I do not consider it a weed, and I used to work in a floral shop where we used it in bouquets regularly :)
